The Gulf of Saint Tropez is a quiet bay on the Mediterranean Sea. The area of the Gulf of Saint Tropez is an intact example of Mediterranean coast that starts after the beautiful coast of Esterel (characterised by reddish cliffs and turquoise sea). This area is part of the Massif des Maures into the Var region of Paca, French Riviera.
Port Grimaud is a small lake town composed of channels and typical fishermen’s houses. As a small Venice, it rises in the middle of the Gulf, and it offers a lot of shops and restaurants. It’s a touristic village made in the sixties by famous architect François Spoerry, who thought about a living touristic harbour for Yacht and boats owners.
Fashionable Saint Tropez is the main center of the international VIP life. Luxury destination since 60’s, it consists of a traditional small harbour on which moor yachts of famous people coming from all over the world. It is a more expensive area than Port Grimaud but is only 6km far from the resort.
The nearby city of Sainte Maxime it’s very lively with a lot of events, fairs organised by the Tourist Bureau. It’s very pleasant for dining and evenying walks. It also have a water park and amusement park and 3 gokart circuits.
Ramatuelle and the beach of Pampelonne are a must for the social life and trendsetters.
Gassin (wineyards town), Grimaud are typical Provencal villages near the campsite, very nice to see!
Monte Carlo is about 1 hour drive. Cannes (City of Film Festival), Nice (the most important center of the French Riviera) are important references on the coast and they are excursion destinations also.
Les ”Gorges du Verdon” is a natural canyon created by the river Verdon. The area of Provence is typically made of natural creeks recalling the most famous Canyon. It’s an ideal area for kayaking, hiking, bungie jumping.
